Rising Empire: Part 1 (The Chronicles of Celadmore, #1)

Book 1 in the Chronicles of Celadmore series and part 1 in the Rising Empire trilogy.

An empire will rise and nations will fall.

The nine kingdoms of Celadmore are at war. The people suffer under tyrants that strive to gain land and power in the struggle for superiority.

Queen Kasnata is trapped in a loveless, political marriage to King Mercia Nosfa VI. Her children are held hostage by her husband to force her armies to march on his whim.

The people of Grashindorph, capital city of Nosfa, are oppressed by their king and beneath the surface of the city a revolution stirs.

As war threatens to tear Celadmore to pieces, Kasnata struggles to bring peace back to the realm. She fights against venality to bring hope to all those that are oppressed, as well as those that have been caught in the savagery of warring kings.

Can the legendary queen, Empress of the Order find the strength to fight knowing the fate of her people rests on her shoulders?

“We assume he has been alone with the queen for the last few days and yet no one seems too concerned about it. He seems to have the trust of a lot of very suspicious individuals. If I were an assassin or a spy, then that is how I would infiltrate our people.” Misna observed with a shrug.

“You are an assassin, spy and infiltrator.” Amalia said with a raised eyebrow.

“Then perhaps we should be more mindful of General Bird than we have been.”

I have fallen in love yet again. It is so rare that I can find a fantasy novel that is multidimensional with great characters who have the power to evoke such raw emotions. I enjoyed this book from the start to the end and I must say that the part that stood out to me the most was the dynamics the author put into her characters. I saw so much passion and I was drawn to the strength and power in Kasnata. This book has captured every facet of good writing. It was very captivating and enjoyed the different levels in the story, the love, anarchy, war, hate and desperation all mixed in one. I would defiantly recommend this to fantasy lovers. It will be the best book you read this year no doubt.

An amazing Fantasy book!

Fantasy books can be full of lazy prose, magic and myth that forget about the characters and plot. This is not one of those books. Filled with plot twists, changing alliances and characters that drive the narrative forward, this book is far from lazy or contrived.
Barbarians and nations at war make an excellent backdrop for Rising Empire: Part 1 and allowed for betrayal, sabotage, rebellion and the greed that seems to dominate the ruling minds of the fantastical realm of Celadmore. I can’t wait for the second book.A perfect read for fantasy and non-fantasy fans alike.

Format: Kindle Edition

Rising Empire Part 1 by C.S. Woolley is a fantasy story rich in politics, lore, and action. Right from the start of reading this book, my interest is piqued. Woolley explains that there is a different font used for the dialect of the Order. Small things like that show me how much time the author put into the book. The plot and world are fascinating, but what really stood out to me are the characters. Woolley develops rich backstories for each characters that really bring the story to life. If you’re someone who loves character-driven fantasy, then this book is a must-read.

Filled with subterfuge, sabotage and greed from the outset, this book is a great addition to the fantasy genre. Using the characters to drive the plot forward, there is depth that only comes from writers who know their characters inside and out.
With lots of different strands cross and coming together to form the basis for this story, it’s hard to pick out a character that hasn’t got some form of agenda driving their actions that the other characters are unaware of. Loyalty and love are put to the test through rebellion and regicide, a must read and gripping story.
