The mysteries of Stickleback Hollow was a series that came to me in a dream – quite literally. Only the dream I had was actually the premise of book 8 in the series, and knowing that the series would be longer, I went back and with the inspiration of the early Poirot cases of Agatha Christie where the mysteries were not about murder, and gave Lady Sarah a seemingly easy case of stolen property as an introduction to her detective skills.
The historical note at the back of the book covers most of the truth and fudging of historical events to fit the story. But there are Easter Eggs within the book that you may have missed. For example, the reference to the pocket watch and John Smith is a reference to Doctor Who.

“My mum has always been an avid reader, and she always read whatever I wrote, even though they were not in genres that appealed to her. So when I dreamed up the concept for this series, I was thrilled to be able to write something that my mother would actually enjoy!”
