On 12th November it is not only Remembrance Sunday, but the day when Peterborough is playing host to a rather unique event. C.S. Woolley is an author that hails from Cheshire but has chosen to bring the celebration of the release of her latest three books and her 70th title to Puzzles? on Bridge Street. “I love the atmosphere in Puzzles? and couldn’t be happier to be holding the launch party of my next books there.”

There are three books that are the focus of the afternoon of celebration. A Bonfire Surprise in Stickleback Hollow and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Die from the Victorian cosy mystery series, the Mysteries of Stickleback Hollow that has a touch of steampunk mixed with historical fact. Hild is the other book that is part of the celebrations and is the second book in the Children of Snotingas series, an Anglo-Saxon series for children that has been written to support the national curriculum.

It’s finally here! MURDER IN THE FIRST has landed. The 9th book to be published in the Nicolette Mace: The Raven Siren series, Murder in the First is one of the Filling the Afterlife from the Underworld books and sees Siren investigating for Fred and Harry instead of behind their backs. This particular book is dedicated to C.S. Woolley‘s grandmother.

Murder in the First starts at just £0.66/$0.99 in digital format and £3.99 in paperback.

The bickering trio are back in this latest Raven Siren Case File Special! It’s a family affair as Fred and Harry come to Siren on bended knee to investigate a case that neither of them can get close to. Ryan Barlow, Fred’s brother and only living relative is in trouble, the kind of trouble that will end up with him in prison or dead, unless Siren can do something to help.

Sonya Lesner, a woman of some dubious reputation has been found murdered and Ryan is the prime suspect. Not only that, but the crime scene has been staged to send a message to one of the trio and Siren is certain that she has heard the name, Sonya Lesner, before. Of all the cases Siren has taken, there has never been more at stake as she digs into the past to try and find some answers.

Nicolette Mace is a private investigator out of necessity, not choice. With her family dead and nowhere else to turn she had to learn to stand on her own two feet and live the only way her father ever taught her to.

Life as a private investigator isn’t all big cases, excitement and arch enemies. Filling the Afterlife from the Underworld follows the day to day musings and activities of Nicolette Mace: The Raven Siren, taken from her online blog.

“My name is Nicolette Mace, but you might know me as the Raven Siren. I’m a Private Investigator living the 1930s romantic dream in this new and exciting modern age. I keep records of everything that happens; everything I have seen and done. Why? There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamed of in your philosophies.”

Front End of Days 1200Yes it’s just 5 days to go until End of Days will be released in paperback and digital format and we are all very excited about it!

End of Days marks the third and final installment in the Venetia, Gruagadon and Aksoth Story arc in the Chronicles of Celadmore and it promises to be something pretty spectacular.

“There is so much to go through in this book, much more than I thought when I first started writing it.” C.S. Woolley told us earlier today when we were talking to her about how she felt about bringing an end to a trilogy that she first started working on over 15 years ago!

“It doesn’t feel like it’s been 15 years since I first started writing about Venetia and Gruagadon. Originally it was one book called Sparrow’s Flight, the name was one of the first things to change as I went through writing it. After 12 years of working and going back and changing things and getting finally finishing what was Shroud of Darkness, I realised that there was so much more I wanted to do with the story and it had to be broken down into three books. This led to Lady of Fire and End of Days being created.”

This book goes through and ties up some of the loose ends of the previous books and answers questions about what happened to certain characters. “There are old faces like Dominia, Crxyander, Gevana and Merchi still in there, as well as larger roles for the Eight and even some brand new characters making appearances.”

But is this the end for the Chronicles of Celadmore?

“No, the Chronicles of Celadmore doesn’t end here. After Rising Empire: Part 2 and Rising Empire: Part 3 come out later this year, I will be working on the next story arc but I am not giving away any details about was is going to happen next. All I can promise is that there are plans and plot lines all in place for another 12 books after End of Days as well as plans for a fifteen part series focusing on the Dragonian Wars.”

Fans of Celadmore can rest assured that End of Days is not the end, but as the tagline from Rising Empire: Part 1 says “This is just the beginning.”

As part of the launch for End of Days there is a crowdspeaking campaign being run by C.S. Woolley on HeadTalker. If you want to help support it and join in with all the release day joy then simply visit the headtalker campaign page and sign up to tweet, tumble or facebook about the book!

With all the exciting news and episodes of the new series, Gotham, flying around, it’s no surprise to us here at Mightier Than the Sword UK that Ben McKenzie is a great choice for the role of Detective James Gordon. We’re all looking forward to seeing the first episode on 13th October on Channel 5 in the UK but it has us all feeling a little bit nostalgic for the days when we first discovered Ben McKenzie in the heady days of youth in the first series of The O.C. So much so we may have gone ahead and watched the first three episodes of the teen drama series from the early noughties!

It hasn’t lost any of its magic, though we are aware that we may well have the the urge to play pirates vs. ninjas again at this rate.

Thus our web gremlins have been somewhat distracted today from adding new content to the site but they have promised that there will be some new shiny gifts for us after the weekend.

Our Christmas twitter campaign has also kicked off and has us talking about the festive season far too early, but it means we have discovered that C.S. Woolley has already done most of her Christmas shopping and what she hasn’t bought she has a list for and everyone is accounted for! We’re a little bit worried that she is too organised and all the time she has between now and Christmas that everyone else will be using to panic about presents she might well be using the time for more nefarious purposes. She’s promised to spend her time writing but somehow, we don’t believe her!

And finally for all those who are poetry buffs (as it’s World Poetry Day) there are currently two poetry compilation books out that are raising money for charity – one we have produced – Standing by the Watchtower, and the other has been put together by the wonderful ladies over at For Books Sake to raise money for Rape Crisis. The UK London launch was on 1st October and the UK Nottingham launch is set for 14th October. If you want more details about the Nottingham event please visit the Facebook page.
