Yes, it’s that time of year again! Everyone at Mightier Than the Sword UK would like to wish everyone out there in internet land a happy Star Wars day! May the forth be with you.
What we love most about May 4th is not just the amount of Star Wars stuff that gets thrown all over the place (though, let’s face it, that is pretty sweet), but how it highlights the change in culture from twenty years ago.
“Being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection. It means never having to play it cool about how much you like something. It’s basically a license to proudly emote on a somewhat childish level rather than behave like a supposed adult. Being a geek is extremely liberating.”
– Simon Pegg
And today shows that this is becoming more and more acceptable in wider society, not just amongst closed groups. So May the Forth be with you – enjoy being a geek, no matter what it is that you love! Those of us in the office are about to sit down to a SEVEN movie marathon to mark the occasion (yes, some of us came in early for this) though C.S. Woolley is missing the marathon as she is indulging her cricket geek at Trent Bridge today and then coaching straight after.
Like Simon says, it’s all about being honest about what you enjoy!
